Company profile

Origin of the company

The origin of the company goes right back to Jacques Foulquier, a pastry-cook in Geneva. In 1826, he began manufacturing chocolate and quickly established himself on the small Rhône Island in the heart of Geneva to make advantage of the water as an energy source. A daughter of the founder married Jean-Samuel Favarger who carried on the work of his father-in-law and who later lent his name to the company. When a power station was built on the site of the first factory, Favarger moved from Geneva to Versoix on the shores of Lake Geneva itself. Today, the company is in new premises and operates with the most modern and efficient plant.

Products

The Favarger company has stayed in the hands of the same family since it was founded until 2003 and is well-known for its soft chocolate and exceptional taste. Favarger has ensured that the original recipe has been passed down from generation to generation to provide enjoyment for all those who recognise good taste. Its production programme consist of specialities such as Les AVELINES de Genève and Les NOUGALINES de Genève, fine quality chocolate tablets and bars for the confectionery market as well as coatings of the highest quality for biscuits, cakes and fine cuisine.

Favarger products are not only well-known to all those who live in Geneva and the many who live in Switzerland, but are also available at many places throughout the world where good quality chocolate is offered.

The secret of success

Favarger is determined to maintain the high tradition of fine quality chocolate manufacture while using the most modern and efficient production methods. By selecting and blending carefully different cocoa varieties, Favarger has maintained its reputation for making fine quality chocolate specialities. At a time when assortments are becoming more alike in taste, the philosophy that the company has adopted is one that accepts challenges and also develops a healthy sense of self-confidence. Today as in the past 175 years, Favarger continues to enjoy the confidence of customers of good taste.

New owner, new momentum

Mr. Luka Rajic has acquired a majority of Favarger shares in 2003. His intention is to develop Favarger's business by complementing its long craftsmanship and tradition with new management competencies. He will make substantial investments in the modernisation of the company and its marketing efforts.
