A chocolate factory is a place of dreams, rather like Father Christmas’ toy factory.
The chocolate factory is also where we receive the carefully selected cocoa beans, and where we process them, transform them, add other ingredients and finally produce the highest-quality chocolate specialities.
The original chocolate factory was located at the site of the Oltramare mill on the Rhône island in Geneva, where it made use of the river’s hydraulic power. The factory shop was located opposite, on the Quai des Etuves (now the Quai des Bergues).
In 1876, Favarger moved a few kilometres outside Geneva to its current site near the lake, on the banks of the Versoix river. It is now the last remaining chocolate factory in the canton of Geneva.
